The fingerprint is normally valid for 15 months. But certain times ago, the USCIS Service Centers started sending out re-fingerprint notices to the I-485 applicants, even if they took the fingerprint only a few months ago. Most people just comply with the re-fingerprint notices and took another fingerprint, by assuming the security clearance needs.
