I am a post-doc in an
university, and plan to file NIW application. My major concern is that my
current advisor may not willing to write a strong reference letter for my
immigration application. May I bypass my current advisor for the reference
letter of NIW application?
Answer:
It is nice to have a
strong reference letter from your current advisor for the NIW application, but it
is not necessary to obtain a strong letter of recommendation from your current
advisor to have a successful NIW petition. If you can obtain several strong
reference letters from other experts in your field to support your NIW petition,
and prove that your current research/project is in US National Interest, then
your case may be a approved.
