The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) took over the immigration business

Dr. William:

Due to the INS changes, do I need to send my I-485 application to new address, or with different INS name in the application?

A:

On February 28, 2003, the INS has abolished, and the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in Homeland Security Department took over the immigration business.

People will not notice the change since everything will continue the way the agency has been operated. People will continue to use the current INS forms until any change is made. At this time, the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services will accept the check made payable to USCIS.
