The Requirement for H-1B Status and The Filing Fee

Dr. William:

I am in  F-1 visa now and was hired by a company 3 months ago for Practical Training. I want to apply for H-1B after I finish the Practical Training. Please let me know what's the requirement for H-1B status, and how much is the filing fee for H-1B status?

A:

There must be an employer who is willing to sponsor you, i.e. the employer offers you a job, which requires at least a bachelor degree in the relevant field.
The filing fee is $1110. Of the $1110 filing fee, $110 can be paid either by the employer or the beneficiary. The $1000 should be paid by the employer.

As to the legal fee, it is up to the arrangement between the employer and the beneficiary. Some employers pay all the bills and some beneficiaries pay all the bills and in some other cases, they split between themselves.
