I Hold a B-1 Visa to Work in USA, How Long I Will Entitle to Apply a Green Card?

Dr. William:

I am a MBA student and going to work in United States for a company. The company actually will do the whole things for me, however, I have got some questions which I think I'd better to know.

1) if I hold a B-1 visa to work in USA, how long I will entitle to apply a Green Card?

2) Can I transfer my job to other company? Should I report to immigration office for this change? DO I need to re-gain the B-1 visa?

3) How long do I need to work in States to get the citizenship?

4) Can I apply Green Card by myself? or employer?

Thank you very much for your time and I am looking forward to see your
reply.

A:

The following is a summary of answer for your question: You can apply for Green Card at any time. If your current visa is employer sponsored, you need apply for new visa based on your new employer sponsorship. A person can get citizenship after obtaining Green Card five years. You can apply Green Card either by yourself or by employer (see our web site for more information about qualification).
