What Could be Consequences of Departing from the Current Employer?

Dr. William:

Recently, I got EB2 I-485 approvals, I just wonder what could be consequences of departing from the current employer that provided me the basis of I-485 approval?

A:

It is likely to arise two circumstances: First, angry employer can contact with the USCIS charging that the alien committed a fraud and used the employer. Second, most people will apply for naturalization after five years or file immigrant petition for family members and the USCIS may have a chance to review the immigration history of the alien.

People become a permanent resident at the time of the USCIS approval and receipt of notice. At this point, the alien should have an intention to work for the petitioning employer. How do you prove "intention" or "state of mind" of the alien? The USCIS would try to prove it by circumstantial evidence. It is recommended that you should at lease work 6 months for the same employer after getting the Green Card.
